DAVE WEEKLEY: Host "Sportspage of the Air"
Dave Weekley has served as the primary host of West Virginia's longest continuously running sports radio program "The Sportspage of the Air" since first joining the WCHS-AM 580 team in 1991.
Weekley spent two decades as a local sports television anchor, including a 16-year stint at WCHS-TV in Charleston where he covered numerous bowl games for WVU, Marshall, World Series and other post-season appearances for the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians. He is a former television voice of Marshall Thundering Herd football and basketball, where his duties included serving as the host and executive producer of coaches show for Jim Donnan and Billy Donovan.
Since leaving local television in 2001, Weekley's college football and basketball play-by-play work has been seen with increasing frequency on ESPN Regional Television, ESPNU, Fos Sports Net and the Atlantic Ten Television Network. Weekley is the television voice of the West Virginia High School football championships and called the first-ever statewide live broadcast of the Class AAA title game from Wheeling in 2003.
Weekley has been a columnitst for the Charleston Gazette since 1999 and his current association with Athlon Sports includes covering C-USA and the MAC for the Football Ners. |
